42nd Street is the behind the scenes story of Peggy Sawyer who comes to New York to audition for Pretty Lady in the 1930’s. The show is full of glamorous costumes from the era that fill the stage with color and sparkle. The live musicians in the pit are a fun character in the show and the topic of a few of the best jokes. The dancing is spectacular, especially when the entire company tap dances at the same time on the stage wide staircase. The song “Dames” in the middle of the show sums up one the appeals: “What do you go for, go see a show for?
